SME Technology Incubation

The Technology Incubation Center (TIC) is established with an effort of MIME for assisting SMEs to increase the know-how of SMEs for improving the productivity and safety of food products. The lack of advanced Technology, Coordination and various Facilities had limited the development of food industries to be more competitive and to ensure the product quality for the consumer.

TIC has three main objectives: (i) to conduct the training on food technology and on Food Quality control, (ii) to test  and apply the R&D and (iii) to conduct the research for responding to the needs of industries.

With these objectives, TIC will serve not only as catalysts for implementation of technology adoption and innovation strategy of the government, but also as a laboratory for SMEs and private sector to learn and test applied skills and technology.

Recently, in response to demand of SMEs, TIC had organized the training courses on the following topics:
-Water Treatment Technology applying for the Bottle Water, Ice and other enterprises
-Soy Sauce Technologies for soy sauce enterprises.
-Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP)

Training on technology for water treatment
The technology for water treatment was tested for optimizing the production as well as for maintaining the high quality of product for bottle water, ice and water supply. The result of the study is then used for this training. Trainees understand how to treat the water source to become drinking water with the quality conforming to the standard for drinking water.

Training on Soy sauce production technologies
Soy sauce technologies for both acid and mold hydrolysis were developed successfully by TIC's Technical Assistance Group (TAG). The technologies provide the high yield of conversion with high productivity and the soy sauce conforms to the standard regulated by Institute of Standard of Cambodia (ISC). The technology for meat balls and noodles are under development and the training is expected to be conducted in due time.

Using TIC, we had optimized the technology for water treatment applied for bottle water and ice and soy sauce technology. 35 enterprises producing the above products had requested the assistance and TAG had provided the consultancy on site. Most of those factories have successfully improved the production technology and meet standard requirements .

As the result of many training on water treatment technologies together with the law reinforcement on the quality of water, the quality testing of bottle water, ice and tap water tested in 2010 by Industrial Laboratory Center of Cambodia (ILCC) have passed the standard for drinking water of 88%, 50% and 82%, respectively, compared to last year only 83%, 35% and 70%. Figure below shows the water treatment improvements in water treatment plant.
